Ingredients

  • 2 pounds lean ground beef

  • 1 (46 fluid ounce) can V8 tomato juice

  • 1 (29 ounce) can tomato sauce

  • 1½ cups chopped onion

  • ½ cup chopped celery

  • ¼ cup chopped green bell pepper

  • ¼ cup chili powder (Gebhardt)

  • 2 tsp ground cumin

  • 1 ½ tsp garlic powder

  • 1 tsp salt

  • ½ tsp ground black pepper

  • ½ tsp dried oregano

  • ½ tsp white sugar

  • ⅛ tsp ground cayenne pepper

  • 2 cups canned red beans, drained and rinsed

Directions

  • Place ground beef in a large pot; cook over medium-high heat until evenly brown
  • Drain beef, crumble, and return to pot
  • Add all remaining ingredients to pot
  • Bring to boil, reduce heat, and simmer for 90 minutes, stirring occasionally
