2 pounds lean ground beef
1 (46 fluid ounce) can V8 tomato juice
1 (29 ounce) can tomato sauce
1½ cups chopped onion
½ cup chopped celery
¼ cup chopped green bell pepper
¼ cup chili powder (Gebhardt)
2 tsp ground cumin
1 ½ tsp garlic powder
1 tsp salt
½ tsp ground black pepper
½ tsp dried oregano
½ tsp white sugar
⅛ tsp ground cayenne pepper
2 cups canned red beans, drained and rinsed
Directions
- Place ground beef in a large pot; cook over medium-high heat until evenly brown
- Drain beef, crumble, and return to pot
- Add all remaining ingredients to pot
- Bring to boil, reduce heat, and simmer for 90 minutes, stirring occasionally
