Ingredients

  • ½ cup olive oil

  • 4 cloves garlic, finely minced

  • 1 baguette or country loaf, cut into ½-inch cubes

  • ½ tsp Italian seasoning

  • ½ tsp paprika

  • ½ tsp freshly ground black pepper

  • ½ tsp salt

  • 1 pinch cayenne pepper

Directions

  • Stir olive oil and garlic together in a bowl; let sit at room temperature until flavors are infused, at least 3 hours (overnight is best)
  • Preheat oven to 300 degrees (optional: line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat)
  • Place bread cubes in a large bowl and pour garlic oil through a strainer onto the bread to coat bread with oil
  • Combine spice ingredients in a small bowl (Italian seasoning, paprika, black pepper, salt, and cayenne pepper) and mix with bread
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes, the turn croutons, and bake 10 more minutes
  • Push croutons together with a spatula so that they are in a compact rectangle on the baking sheet and no longer spread out, bake until the bread is crispy and crunchy, 5 to 10 more minutes
